How to Keep Your Grow Credit Account Secure

Identity theft is a serious problem that can cause a lot of financial and personal damage. Here are a few tips that can help you prevent identity theft online:

Keep your personal information safe: Don't give out your Social Security number, card details, or any other personal information to strangers. Be careful when sharing your personal information online, especially on social media platforms.

Grow Credit will never ask you to provide your SSN or card numbers, and you should never share them with another party. If we need to confirm your identity, we may ask you to verify your date of birth and billing zip code.

Use strong passwords: Use strong passwords that are difficult to guess, and use a unique password for each account. You may want to use a password manager to generate and store complex passwords.

Secure your devices: Use anti-virus software and keep your operating system and applications up-to-date with the latest security patches. Also, avoid using public Wi-Fi networks when accessing sensitive information.

Monitor your financial accounts: Regularly check your bank and credit card statements for any unauthorized charges, and report any suspicious activity immediately. If you see any charges on your Grow Credit account that you don’t recognize, reach out to customer support as soon as possible.

Be cautious of phishing scams: Don't click on links or download attachments from emails or messages that you're not expecting or don't recognize. Verify the sender's identity before taking any action.

Freeze your credit: Consider placing a freeze on your credit reports to prevent anyone from opening new accounts in your name without your knowledge.

If you believe you have been a victim of identity theft: Report the theft to the FTC through IdentityTheft.gov. The FTC will help you come up with a recovery plan and provide you with an FTC Identity Theft Report. You should also report the identity theft to your local police department. Even if the police will not investigate, some companies may request a copy of the police report. Next, contact any relevant companies to freeze and close fraudulently opened accounts.

The Identity Theft Resource Center, a national non-profit, can also assist you if you have been the victim of identity theft.
